Boss Discusses 2018/19 Schedule

21 June 2018

Town Boss Phil Brown has given his thoughts on our 2018/19 Sky Bet League Two schedule on #FixtureReleaseDay.

"It is always nice to be at home on the first game of the season and I think supporters will be turning out with a high expectation," he told swindontownfc.co.uk.

"That puts you under pressure straight away but, having said that, Macclesfield are a newly promoted team and they will be on the crest of a wave.

"We've got to stamp our authority on the league straightaway and I think home form is going to be vitally important next year.

"We've got to make this place a fortress.

"There are some really tasty fixtures where there is history between the two clubs, there is history where the managers and the players are concerned, but it is about the club itself.

"I always break down the season into bunches of fixtures and by the end of that first month everybody will have a figure in their head where we know what the top of the division looks like and what the bottom of the division looks like.

"There will be one or two surprises, there always is, but we need to make sure that we aren't the same team we were last season where we won one then lost one.

"There is a certain figure in my head that will win the league, there is a certain figure in my head that will get us promoted and there is a certain figure in my head that will see us finish in the play-offs.

"Those figures are way down the line, we've got 46 games and it is a gruelling fixture list once you start delving deeper into it.

"It is a great day and you can see the smile on my face.

"I'm excited about the prospect of bringing new players in, about starting pre-season and let's bring it on!"
