DPDS were delighted to host the very successful public consultation on behalf of Swindon Town FC regarding the proposed new training ground and headquarters at Twelve Oaks, Highworth in the Town Council Offices on Saturday 16th June
A large number of local residents and business owners attended the consultation where Les Durrant, Amanda Loftus and Fraser Digby represented STFC.
The outcome was wholly positive, with great support shown overall for the proposals that are soon to be submitted by way of formal planning application(s).
Comments from those attending included: “The plans look like they are going to fit in with the
environment very nicely," and “A fantastic facility for the youth of the town and surrounding areas – a great project & logical site – it will ensure that the current land is put to good use and not left derelict."
The proposals presented showed the development as a whole, with the training ground, equestrian and residential development.
DPDS Group Managing Director, Les Durrant, commented: “The majority of people had been very supportive.
"I don’t think I have ever had such a positive response at a consultation event.
"In Highworth particularly, people seem to be focusing on the fact this is a really good use of the old golf course. The housing element was always going to be controversial, but a lot of people support that as well.”
Julia Bishop, Highworth Mayor, who attended the event, said: “I love the concept of the plan and I think it could be really good for the youth of Highworth, but as a Council we will have to go through this carefully. We will take all the residents’ opinions into account.”
lan Bishop, a Highworth ward Councillor and member of the Borough’s Planning Committee, added:
“I think it’s a wonderful thing for Highworth."
