Town To Head To Spain For Tour

Warm-Weather Training Camp Confirmed

28 June 2018

Swindon Town will be heading out to Spain for a warm-weather training camp next month.

Phil Brown will take his side to Southern Spain in July as part of their pre-season preparations for the 2018/19 Sky Bet League Two campaign.

The Reds will fly out on Sunday 8th July - the day after our friendly at Melksham Town - and will spend six days in camp where the players will be put through their paces.

There is the chance for the team to play one fixture during their time in Spain, although details are still being worked on behind the scenes.

Town will then fly back on Friday 13th July before taking on Championship outfit West Brom at The Energy Check County Ground the following day.

Speaking about the trip, Town manager Phil Brown said: "I like to keep pre-season interesting and it is a motivation for the players.

"We will be going to St George's Park to play Benfica and we will be going abroad to Spain for six days of warm-weather training as opposed to going to Waterford.

"It wasn't a bad idea going to Waterford but it is back in their season and their first-team isn't available, so playing their B team wasn't conducive to where we want to be.

"It is motivation again going to a different venue and a different training ground."
