Brown: Fans' support vital

New manager's message to the supporters

14 March 2018

PHIL Brown has called upon the Swindon Town faithful to get behind the Reds' promotion push, as the Robins enter a crucial period of the League 2 campaign.

Brown will take charge of his first game as Swindon manager at Cambridge United this Saturday and having joined the Reds, he had this message for the supporters.

"The fans have a big part to play as we enter what now is effectively a ten-game season," he told Swindontownfc.co.uk.

"It may have been a shock to see Flicker leave the club, but he has gone to pastures new. He probably thinks he has joined a club who have a better chance of promotion - but together, we have to prove him wrong.

"Saturday was a disappointing result against Cheltenham and it put Matty (Taylor) in an unusual situation in that he was managing the team and playing, which is a big ask for anybody.

"Hopefully we can show on Saturday at Cambridge that the result last weekend was a blip, and the challenge ahead is to reach the play-offs as a minimum."
