Taylor Big Fan Of Brown Appointment

Fans' Favourite Has His Say On Today's Breaking News

Matty Taylor has lavished praise on the football club for hiring Phil Brown as our new manager.

Brown agreed terms on a two-year deal earlier today to take charge of the club on a permanent basis after overseeing the final ten games of the 2017/18 season.

And Taylor, who developed a close relationship with the gaffer, is now looking forward to the future with Brown in charge.

"Firstly, I'm pleased that the club and the Chairman have decided to take action so soon after the end of the season because I think that is important," he told swindontownfc.co.uk.

"I think what Phil will bring to the club first of all is experience of managing at high levels, he's had promotions himself so he knows what it takes as a manager to assemble a team that is capable of challenging for promotion and that will be the aim.

"I don't think I'm speaking out of turn there to say that the aim next season will be to get promoted out of League Two.

"It is a very good appointment for the football club in terms of stability and that's what I believe, having worked with Phil over the last twelve weeks, he'll bring in abundance.

"I'm really happy that the football club have taken the opportunity of employing Phil Brown as the manager and giving him a two-year contract as well - it is hopefully the start of what is going to be a positive 2018/19 season."

And Taylor is now looking forward to seeing the work Phil Brown carries out over the summer in order to make sure Town are ready and raring to go for a promotion campaign come August.

"As with every close season at every football club at every level it will be one fraught with a lot of phone calls because recruitment will now be the number one priority between now and the start of the season," he added.

"It is going to be a busy period now but Phil has experienced that many times during his career as a manager.

"We're an attractive proposition as a football club for players coming in because of the size of the club, so it is going to be an interesting time and hopefully one where we can assemble the right type of characters to be able to give us the best opportunity of getting promoted.

"Phil has said himself that he wants to get us promoted and everyone at Swindon Town will try to achieve that next season.

"I hope everybody will be on the same page in regards to what the aim for next season is and I'm sure that every player who is at the football club will do that.

"Attracting the right type of player is going to be vitally important because they've got to fit in with the DNA of first of all what Phil Brown is all about, and secondly what Swindon Town are all about.

"It is exciting times for the football club and I am so glad it has been done so soon after the end of the season."
