DIALLANG JAIYESIMI SIGNS ON-LOAN FROM NORWICH

2 August 2019

Swindon Town are delighted to announce the signing of Diallang Jaiyesimi, on-loan from Norwich City.

The forward arrives on a season-long loan from the Canaries after impressing away from his parent club over the last two seasons. DJ is eligible to play tomorrow in our season opener against Scunthorpe.

After being scouted by the East Anglia club while with the Aspire Academy, run by non-league side Dulwich Hamlet, Jaiyesimi progressed quickly as he rose through the latter stages of academy football.

In January 2016, he signed a two-and-a-half year contract at City and made appearances in the EFL Trophy at the age of 18. He made his professional debut at the start of the 2017/18 season after moving on-loan to Grimsby Town.

During his breakthrough season with the Mariners, he made thirty appearances over a full season, gaining valuable EFL experience.

Last season, Jaiyesimi made the drastic switch from Lincolnshire to Somerset and Yeovil where he kicked off the campaign in red-hot form starting the Glovers’ first nine games where then-Darren Way’s side were fifth in the division. However, an ACL injury cut short the 21-year-old’s season and coincided with a severe deterioration in the Somerset side’s form.

Upon signing, Jaiyesimi said:

“I’m buzzing to get started. I’ve met and trained with the boys and they’ve welcomed me straight away so I just want to hit the ground running.”
