YATES: HOPEFULLY DOYLE AND I CAN CLICK TOGETHER

29 August 2019

After Town striker Jerry Yates’ suspension finished this week, he hopes he can get back into the first team alongside current top scorer Eoin Doyle.

Morecambe make the trip to the County Ground this Saturday and Yates hopes his excellent form before his suspension is enough to earn him a return to the starting eleven.

The Shrimps currently sit in 18th after winning only one of their last five games. Town will be hoping to carry on their unbeaten record against Morecambe this Saturday after winning six out of the seven times the two teams have met, only ever conceding one goal to the Lancashire side.

However, the Shrimps have a striker in Lewis Alessandra who has scored 3 goals in his last 4 games and there is no doubt he will be looking to improve their overall goal tally against Town this Saturday.

Town striker Yates spoke about the possible partnership between him and Eoin Doyle:

“It’s not a competition between me and him, it’s more about trying to help each other out to get more goals and assists.

“He’s come in, scored goals and is doing his job. It’s nice to get Doyley [Eoin Doyle] in and hopefully we can click together. “We get along well and Doyley is a top professional,” he said.

“It’d be nice to be involved on Saturday, but I know I’ve now got to work my way back into this team and that’s by playing well.”

“We get along well and Doyley is a top professional,” he said.

Both Yates and Doyle have benefitted from the style of football that Richie Wellens’ side have played so far this season saying it’s some of the most stylish he’s played in

But the Rotherham loanee said that its now about taking chances more than anything else

“I’ve never been around a team that actually plays this much football so it’s been nice to watch.

“We’ve created lots of chances so all we need to do is start taking some of them,” he said.

“All the lads are playing well and we need to start nicking a few more results.”
