BENNETT ASSESSES GRIMSBY DRAW

23 February 2019

Kyle Bennett made his full debut in Swindon’s 1-1 draw with Grimsby Town at the Energy Check County Ground but was left frustrated as the visitors scored instantly after the Robins had taken the lead.

Theo Robinson had put the home side ahead on 74 minutes before Luke Hendrie instantly pegged them back. Ludvig Ohman had been sent off for the visitors for two bookable offences, the second of which was an obvious foul on Kaiyne Woolery as he bore down on goal.

Bennett gave his assessment on the display:

“They were an energetic team when they’ve not got the ball – that’s what they pride themselves on based on the evidence today.

“It’s difficult to break down – they’re sharp in the tackle – but we have the players, Keshi, Theo and Kaiyne up top, to break them down. We did mostly today but we just couldn’t come away with the three points.”

The Bristol Rovers loanee said that the point seemed like ‘one of those days’:

“It happens a lot in football – scoring and conceding straight away. It’s like a habit across football. We switched off and that’s disappointing because it’s avoidable. We’ll look at that on the training field to try and be slightly more compact.

“There’s a lot of games to play and over the course of the season we’ve probably drawn games we should have lost. Sometimes, it’s swings and roundabouts and it was our turn to be on the receiving end of it.”
