ALI KOIKI SIGNS ON-LOAN FROM BURNLEY

10 January 2019

Swindon Town are delighted to today announce the signing of Ali Koiki, on-loan from Burnley.

Koiki is a left-sided player and has been a regular at left-back for Burnley’s Under-23s over the last two seasons.

He signed his first professional contract at the end of last season as a reward for a solid first season at the highest level of youth football.

Despite starting his youth career at Crystal Palace, the 19-year-old was spotted by Burnley playing local football in Croydon.

Since then he has impressed at Turf Moor and has been included in the first-team squads for their recent games over Arsenal and West Ham United by manager Sean Dyche.

Koiki is eligible to play this weekend against Lincoln City.

On joining the club, Ali said:

“I’m just really excited to get started – it’s a new chapter in my career and I’m eager to see how things go. It’s the beginning of a journey for me, playing men’s football so really want to get things going.

“The men’s game is spoken about a lot and it’s big step up from youth football to men’s football so I want to make sure I get into it and make an impact.”

Upon acquiring the left-back, Richie Wellens said:

“Ali is strong and powerful – this is his first loan and it’s good opportunity for him to learn and he gives us a little bit of balance on the left side. He can play further forward too.”
