NEWS: PETER SHIRTLIFF JOINS BACKROOM STAFF

16 January 2019

Swindon Town Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Shirtliff as first-team coach.

Shirtliff joins Richie Wellens’ backroom staff, adding a wealth of experience to the coaching team here at SN1.

Shirtliff began his career in the game in 1979 at Sheffield Wednesday before joining Charlton Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Barnsley making over 500 league appearance during his playing career.

Since retiring in 1996, he has spent time at Barnsley and Leicester City as youth-team coach as well as managing Mansfield in 2006. In 2009, he took the assistant manager job here at Swindon as part of Danny Wilson’s coaching staff where he helped the Robins reach the Play-Off Final in May 2010, where they were cruelly denied promotion by Millwall.
