SIGNING: BEN HOUSE MAKES LOAN SWITCH

3 January 2019

Swindon Town are delighted to announce the signing of Ben House, on-loan from Reading FC.

The deal will keep the young striker at SN1 until the end of the season.

House has impressed for Reading Under-23s so far this season scoring 11 goals in 16 starts, including strikes against Southampton, Newcastle, and Manchester United.

The Scotland Under-20 international is eligible to make his debut against Macclesfield this weekend.

On joining the club, House said:

“It’s a good move for me. It came around really quick – I was told: Swindon want you and it’s just a great opportunity. Men’s football is all you want when you’re in my position – this is a great opportunity for me to show what I can do.

“As a player, I’m quite physical. I put myself about and make runs in behind. I just work hard, and try to be a real team player. I’ve had a good season so far but there’s a lot of players at Reading and elsewhere that are dreaming of league loans and first-team football so I’ve just got to keep improving.”

Swindon's Assistant Manager, Noel Hunt said:

“Ben’s enthusiastic and aggressive. We went to watch four or five times and he’ll just give us that energy up front to press and be on the front foot. His work rate is phenomenal and he’s got his goals in Reading’s Under-23s too.

He’s got a great attitude and is a great lad – he’s rated very highly at Reading. We’ve done our research and we think we’ve got a really good young lad in.

“We’ve basically based our scouting on hungry players, and players that will wear the shirt with pride and do themselves and the football club justice. We’re a big club in this league but until we get the right mentality, we won’t be efficient in our progression. Ben has the right mentality.”
