MONDAY BRIEFING: 22.07.2019

22 July 2019

Here’s a summary of the week’s events and a look ahead to the next seven days:

Two wins in one night before defeat to Birmingham

Swindon were split in two last Tuesday night as two evenly-spread XIs travelled to Salisbury and Hungerford. Both came out victorious in style – Richie Wellens’ side in Hungerford came from behind to win 4-1 with Noel Hunt’s dominant team easing to a 6-1 victory in South Wiltshire.

The Robins were back in action on Friday as they travelled to Birmingham  City’s Trillion Trophy Training Centre but were on the receiving end of a lightning-fast start from the their Championship opposition.

After going four goals down before half-time, Michael Doughty nicked one back with a tidy finish from outside the box before Birmingham added two late goals.

Pre-season comes to the County Ground

Town have two of their most testing opposition in the space of four days this week as Manchester United Under-23s and Coventry City visit SN1.

United ‘s youngsters are first up as they head to the CG on Tuesday night with Richie Wellens’ side looking for an improved display from the defeat against Birmingham City on Friday afternoon.

Coventry are the visitors on Saturday afternoon in the first Saturday fixture of pre-season and the 2019/20 season.
