REPORT: TOWN HIT SIX IN PRE-SEASON OPENER

2 July 2019

Swindon started pre-season in style as they beat Brimscombe & Thrupp by six goals to nil at The Meadow.

Keshi Anderson opened the scoring three minutes in before, new signing, Jerry Yates tapped home minutes later.

After a valiant effort to keep the score at two until the break, a completely changed XI put four past the non-leaguers.

First Half

Town got off to a quick start after a hard week of work on the training pitch – after neat work from new signing Rob Hunt on the left-hand side, the familiar face of Michael Doughty played a neat one-two with Keshi Anderson and the forward rolled in to open the scoring three minutes in.

It didn’t take long before the Robins doubled the lead – Woolery scampered away down the left and selflessly squared to Jerry Yates who side-footed into the top corner, avoiding the defender on the line.

However, the riot that looked certain to happen was halted by good work from Brimscombe who worked themselves a foothold in the game.

As expected, Town continued to dominate but couldn’t nick another – Kaiyne Woolery struck from 30 yards and wobbled the post before the same upright took a battering from a cross-cum-shot from Anderson five minutes later.

Second Half

After the break, Swindon changed their entire XI as planned at the start of the game with nine trialists coming into the fold.

Four goals were added, all by those on trial, as Swindon rounded off their pre-season opener in style.
