Swindon Town is delighted to announce the addition of Tommy Wright to the first-team coaching staff.
Tommy brings a wealth of experience with him to the County Ground having worked behind the scenes with several clubs and managers after finishing his playing career at Doncaster Rovers in 2000.
Most recently, Wright was involved with Carlisle United under John Sheridan, who Richie Wellens worked under at Oldha Athletic.
The 53-year-old Scotsman has already joined up with the squad in La Manga.
Swindon Town can also announce the departure of Peter Shirtliff from the first-team coaching staff.
Peter leaves due to personal reasons with the club asking fans to respect his privacy at this time.
Richie and the entire club would like to thank Peter for his efforts during his time at the club and wish him all the best going forward.
Since retiring from playing in 1996, Shirtliff spent time at Barnsley and Leicester City as youth-team coach as well as managing Mansfield in 2006.
In 2009, he took the assistant manager job here at Swindon as part of Danny Wilson’s coaching staff where he helped the Robins reach the Play-Off Final in May 2010, where they were cruelly denied promotion by Millwall.
The club would like to thank Peter for his hard work and dedication during his time at the club.
