WELLENS: WE'RE CLOSE WITH DEALS

17 June 2019

Richie Wellens has said that two deals for more experienced players are close to completion.

Speaking to swindontownfc.co.uk, the Town Boss updated fans on his movement in the transfer market.

After he captured two young players in a week, Adam May on-loan from Portsmouth and Tyler Reid from Swansea, he is now looking to bolster the ranks with two additions with a bit more experience.

“We want to try and get the balance right – we’re close with a couple of experienced players; one is 26, one is 31.

“We’re close with permanent deals for those two.”

On the style of the player he has already bought in, Wellens looked for the right physical and tactical attributes but also the right characters too.

“In Tyler Reid’s case you have to be a modern-day full-back – you have to be quick, you have to be energetic, you have to power forward and back and he fits into that really well.

“If we have pace and power in our team, then we need people that can provide passes – Adam will provide that.

“But we have two younger players that are hungry – Adam is frustrated that he’s not got an opportunity at Portsmouth. He thinks he’s good enough to be in their first-team: brilliant – use that frustration, let it out from the first day at our club and show everybody what you can do.”
