1969 CELEBRATIONS

2 March 2019

Supporters will, of course, be aware that the 50th anniversary of our famous League Cup Final victory falls the day before our home game against Port Vale.

To commemorate the occasion the club will be putting on a number of events and organising several different tributes to those that played a part.

These include:

Half-Time Parade of the Squad of ‘69

Don Rogers, John Trollope, Frank Burrows, Joe Butler, Peter Downsborough and Rod Thomas alongside representatives of Danny Williams’ family will be on the County Ground pitch at half-time for a lap of honour to enable fans to show their appreciation for the club’s greatest ever crop of players.

League Cup Trophy

On their lap of honour, the boys of ’69 will be joined by the famous trophy itself. Fifty years on, the trophy is the same design and the squad that lifted the trophy then will be able to do it again as they parade the County Ground pitch.

Commemorative Programme

A special programme will be produced featuring extracts from the original day’s matchday publication as well as interviews with the legends themselves, memories from fans and profiles on all those involved.

Post-match Q&A

The legends will be part of a Q&A in the Legends Lounge after the Port Vale game as concluded – season-ticket holders can download tickets to this via the e-ticketing website from Monday 4th March, 12:00. General sale will commence online at 17:00 on Friday 8th March.

Tickets for the game can be bought here.
