Jak McCourt said Swindon are not going into games fearing opponents thanks to the run of form they’re on.
McCourt has been a mainstay in the Robins midfield throughout their recent run of results against play-off rivals as they went unbeaten throughout February.
The central midfielder puts his personal form down to his reaction to the manager’s wishes:
“I think I’ve done whatever the manager’s asked, I’ve done. That’s the main thing. We’ve been playing really good football recently and it shows because the results have got us close to the play-offs.
“It’s about consistency – and we’ve got that across the whole squad now because when one person steps out the other steps in and fills the place really well. That’s been the key to our success really.
“I just want to implement my own game – I know what I’m good at and what I’m not good at. I don’t really try anything outside of that because I want to keep my game simple.”
McCourt, speaking to the local press, said that training has improved even more since their impressive run of games.
“Training has stepped up and has been going really well – we had a really good session today and standards were really high. The football that we play, including every single player, has stepped up. That’s what has been key because it shows with results. Hopefully that will continue.”
Looking ahead to the weekend’s test against Carlisle, the 23-year-old takes no fear into playing against anyone in the league – because of the form his side are in.
“We’re not focussing too far ahead – we know this weekend will be tough. I’ve played there a few times now and it’s never an easy game but I think with the form we’re in, they’ll be more worried about us then we are them.
“I’ve said it a few times now that we’re not going into games not fearing anyone.”
