MONDAY BRIEFING: 11.03.2019

11 March 2019

Defeat at Carlisle

Swindon suffered their first defeat this year on the road at the hands of Carlisle, after previously winning every away game in 2019.

The furthest journey of the season ended in loss after Callum O’Hare’s late strike proved the winner.

Hallam Hope opened the scoring for the home side after 12 minutes with Carlisle dominating the early stages. However, the introduction of Keshi Anderson on the half hour mark brought a change in the wind for Town who equalised through a sumptuous Kyle Bennett free-kick just before the break.

Despite a second half where Swindon enjoyed the majority of chances, O’Hare’s finish was enough to ensure Town left Cumbria with nothing to show for their efforts.

Loan Watch

Jordan Young scored on is debut for Highworth Town with a smashing effort – he put his side ahead against Moneyfields who went on to win the game 2-1.

Joe Romanski was in fine form again for Bath City over the weekend – he kept his third clean sheet in five as the Romans romped home to a 3-0 away at Hemel Hempstead. Ross Stearn came off the bench to score a hat-trick to build on the firm foundations laid by Romanski and Co.

Will Henry played his second game for Gloucester City but was on the receiving end of a defeat to Dartford. The Darts prevailed 2-0 winners on the day.

Scott Twine played half an hour in Waterford’s 4-0 defeat to Dundalk.

Tuesday trip to Stevenage

Town’s attention quickly turns to Stevenage – their second away trip in four days after the long journey to Carlisle.
