MONDAY BRIEFING: 25.03.2019

25 March 2019

Here’s a summary of the week’s events and a look ahead to the next seven days:

Biggest Win of the Season

Town comfortably saw off Morecambe in their biggest win of the season as goals from around the pitch contributed to a 4-0 thrashing of Jim Bentley’s Lancashire side.

Theo Robinson opened the scoring on nine minutes before Kaiyne Woolery rounded off a dominant half with a goal just before the break.

Dion Conroy showed off his attacking capability with a stunning goal early in the second half before Kyle Bennett’s effort from outside the box ensured a cracking day at the County Ground.

Before Saturday, Swindon’s largest deficit achieved came at the start of March; a 3-0 over play-off chasing Colchester.

Loan Watch

Joe Romanski kept another clean sheet – his fourth in six games – with Bath City as they drew 0-0 with Eastbourne Borough. Sol Pryce also played a full 90 minutes in the stalemate at Priory Lane.

Jermaine McGlashan got an hour under his belt for Wrexham in the National League as their title hopes were dented by Hartlepool at Victoria Park.

Jordan Young got another full game under his belt after scoring in his opening two games at Highworth Town – he helped the Worthians come from behind to draw 1-1 with Mangotsfield United.

Will Henry started in goal and helped Gloucester City AFC in their comeback win over St. Albans City.

International Robins

Ben House was in the thick of the action for Scotland Under-21s as a substitute winning a late penalty against Mexico Under-21s.

House was impeded by goalkeeper Jose Santiago Hernandez in the dying moments of their friendly in Marbella however, the consequent spot-kick was saved by the Mexican stopper ensuring the game ended goalless.

Lawrence Vigouroux was on the bench for Chile’s 3-1 friendly defeat to Mexico on Saturday morning.

Robins travel to Bury looking to rekindle away form

Swindon’s home and away form have gone full circle in the last month – after struggling at home in the opening month of the year, Town have gone three unbeaten at the County Ground.

Defeats to Carlisle and Stevenage put a holt to an unbeaten away start to 2019 and Richie Wellens’ men will hoping for another positive results off the back of their 4-0 thrashing of Morecambe at SN1 on Saturday.
