Town coach, Tommy Wright has stated his pleasure at the level of competition in the Robins dressing room and has challenged the side to maintain the high standards set in the victory at Brisbane Road last Saturday.
Wright said: "It’s exactly what we want, more competition for places. That’s what we spoke about on deadline day about getting players in to boost the squad and we’ve done that.
"Everybody’s playing well, everybody’s confident, everybody’s positive and I think it’s a massive thing, the first half at Orient was a massive statement to the team, to show what we can produce and we need to produce it a lot more.
"I spoke to a number of people in football who were at the game and they were very impressed with us."
Town return to the County Ground this Saturday afternoon as they take on Macclesfield Town, Wright also provided an injury update ahead of the game.
"Zeki [Fryers] trained today again, he’s looked very good in the past couple of days so it looks like he’ll be in contention. Jordan Lyden pulled his thigh muscle so we are waiting on the results of the scan for that but we don’t think that’ll be too long that he’ll be out for. Maybe a couple of weeks but we are hopeful it won’t be too long."
With the return of Fryers as an option at full-back,Wright was once again quizzed on the competition in that area as well as in goal with the deadline day addition of Steven Benda to the side,
"Ellis [Iandolo] has come in and done very well, Richie’s got a decision to make. Zeki did very well before his injury and Ellis has come in and done very well so it’s a really tough choice.
"Steven looks really good, he’s come highly recommended. He’s looked really good in training and in the game [friendly versus Brentford]. He’s ready to play but Luke’s [McCormick] done very well so it’s another tough decision for Richie to make."
