Swindon Town are delighted to announce the signing of central defender, Akin Odimayo on a one-year-deal with an option to extend. The deal is subject to EFL and FA approval.
Odimayo spent his youth career with Reading and made 30 appearances for their U23 side in the Premier League 2 competition.
The defender has been training with Town since the beginning of pre-season, after finishing his contract with the Royals, leaving him without a club.
He has played in all three games of pre-season so far and looks to have impressed during his short time in SN1.
Manager Richie Wellens had this to say about the 20-year-old following the 2-1 pre-season win over Coventry City:
“This is a very good deal for the club. I think he’s got huge potential and he has everything to be a really good centre-half.”
When asked about his experience of the club so far, Odimayo said:
“When I came here on the first day, it was all a new surrounding, but the lads have been great. They’ve really taken to me.”
“You saw how the team dealt with League Two so comfortably, the club has great ambition and I want to be part of that."
All of us at Swindon would like to welcome Akin with open arms and look forward to his contribution in a Town shirt.
