Swindon Town are delighted to announce the signing of winger Jonny Smith from Bristol City on a season-long loan. This deal is subject to EFL and FA approval.
Smith started his football career with Wrexham before signing for City in May 2016. He has not yet made an appearance for his parent club but has had plenty of experience in the football league.
After making 5 appearances on loan at Cheltenham Town, the winger joined AFC Fylde on loan in August 2017 and scored 8 goals in 43 matches at National League level.
The 23-year-old then joined Tranmere Rovers in July of 2018 and helped them to League Two Play-Off glory, scoring 4 goals for the Rovers over the course of the season.
Smith spent his most recent loan spell away from Ashton Gate at League Two side Oldham Atheltic, where he bagged 9 goals in 28 appearances for then Dino Maamria’s side. He also made 6 assists during the 2019/20 season for the Latics.
We would like to wish Jonny the best of luck here at Swindon and we are excited to see him in a Town shirt for the 2020/21 campaign.
