Swindon Town are delighted to announce the signing of striker, Tyler Smith from Sheffield United on a season-long loan deal subject to EFL and FA approval.
The 21-year-old has not made a senior appearance for the Blades but has League One experience whilst on loan at Doncaster, Bristol Rovers and Rochdale.
His first loan spell away from Bramall Lane was at Barrow in the National League back in 2018 where he netted 10 goals in 23 appearances.
Smith then moved to Doncaster where his debut was certainly one to remember, scoring two goals in a 2-2 draw with Burton in January 2019.
After the first half of the 2019/20 season at Bristol Rovers, the striker joined Brian Barry-Murphy’s side at Rochdale, where he scored one goal in four matches for the Dale before the cessation of football due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
The 21-year-old had this to say about joining the Robins:
“I’m delighted. I knew about it a couple of weeks ago now and I was just itching to get here and now that’s happened I just can’t wait to get started.”
“I looked at the club last season and saw how they dominated teams, scoring loads of goals and after speaking to the gaffer, the way they’re going forward, it suits me right to a T.”
“League One is a tough league, but I think we will be more than fine. If we stick together and work hard, the results will come.”
