MATCH PREVIEW: PETERBOROUGH (A)

2 October 2020

We take a look at this weekend’s opponents ahead of our trip to The Weston Homes Stadium.

Matchday four of this season’s League One campaign beckons, and Peterborough will be the hosts for our second domestic away fixture of the season.

After last weekend’s 4-2 victory against Burton Albion, which saw a debut goal for Jordan Stevens and Brett Pitman opening his Swindon goalscoring account, Town will be looking for their first three points on the road.

The hosts will need a change in fortunes after a 1-0 defeat away to Sunderland in matchday three.

The Posh have lost two of their opening three domestic fixtures, losing to Accrington Stanley and Sunderland 2-0 and 1-0 respectively, but did secure a 2-1 home victory against Fleetwood sandwiched in-between those defeats.

This fixture is traditionally a very narrow and equal affair with Swindon coming out victorious in 22 of the 63 fixtures, while Peterborough have won 23 of those games.

Peterborough will also take further solace in the fact they were the victors in the previous competitive league fixture between the two sides – Christopher Forrester popping up with the goal in a 1-0 win over the Reds in the 2016-17 season.

Swindon will be up against a familiar face in centre-half Nathan Thompson who came through the academy and spent eight seasons at the County Ground, between 2009 and 2017. Last season's player of the year, Anthony Grant will be returning to Peterborough having played 59 times for the Posh between January 2017 and August 2018.
