Swindon Town are delighted to announce the re-signing of Akin Odimayo on an initial one-year deal, subject to EFL approval.
The versatile young defender enjoyed a breakout season at SN1 last term following his arrival from Reading in the summer of 2020.
Having initially joined on trial, Odimayo made an instant impression on manager Richie Wellens, signing a one-year deal.
The 21-year-old made his EFL debut in the opening-day win against Rochdale last September and went on to make more than 30 appearances for the club. He was also named as Swindon Advertiser’s Player of the Year.
AK fits the profile of player Ben Chorley is keen to bring to the club – young, committed and with huge potential. Everyone here is delighted to welcome him back and can’t wait to watch him continue his development under the new management team.

Speaking with Akin over the last few days he understands the model and the plan for Swindon going forward. He worked with assistant coach Scott Marshall across four years at Reading so we know him well and he is a great addition to the squad for this season.
