Dion Conroy named Captain for 2021-22

Jack Payne takes on Assistant Captain role

5 August 2021

Swindon Town are delighted to announce that Dion Conroy will continue as Captain for the 2021-22 season.

Conroy will lead the Reds through battle in the EFL Sky Bet League Two in 2021-22, and he will be assisted by midfielder Jack Payne who will serve as our Vice-Captain.

Conroy signed for Town back in 2017 from Chelsea and quickly established himself as a key part at the heart of the defense.

He overcame a couple of serious injuries to cement his status as a key member of the team, and has racked up over 70 appearances for the club so far.

Conroy was first given the armband for the 2019-20 season having worn it for 10 games at the tail end of the previous season and, having impressed new Head Coach Ben Garner, the defender will again lead Town out in 2021-22.

He will have ample support from Payne who will serve as Vice-Captain throughout the 2021-22 season, who will assist Conroy both on and off the field.

Payne joined the Robins from Lincoln City in the summer of 2020 and scored four goals in 47 total appearances, and the attacking midfielder will be a key player for the club in the upcoming season.

Everyone at Swindon Town would like to congratulate both Dion and Jack on their new roles, and we wish them the very best of luck for the 2021-22 campaign.
