Grant Included in Jamaica Squad for World Cup Qualifiers

Town Midfielder Gets International Recognition

31 August 2021

Swindon Town midfielder Anthony Grant has been called up by Jamaica for their upcoming World Cup Qualifiers.

After a typically dominant start to the 2021-22 EFL Sky Bet League Two season for the Reds, Grant will represent his country on the biggest stage.

Jamaica faces a busy start to September with three World Cup Qualifiers, and Grant has been included in the squad for those three fixtures.

Theodore Whitmore's team start by travelling to Mexico on September 2, before playing Panama at home on September 5 and then rounding off the international window by pitting their wits against Costa Rica on September 8.

Grant will link up with the likes of Brentford's Ethan Pinnock, Reading's Liam Moore and West Ham United striker Michail Antonio as Jamaica look to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

This is the third international call-up for Town following Jonny Williams being included in the Welsh squad and Kaine Kesler-Hayden being called-up by England U20s, and we'll confirm what games Grant will miss in due course.

Here is the Jamaica squad in full for their upcoming World Cup Qualifiers:

Andre Blake (Philadelphia Union), Adrian Mariappa (Unattached), Dillon Barnes (Queens Park Rangers), Liam Moore (Reading FC), Dennis Taylor (Humble Lion FC), Amari'i Bell (Luton Town), Ethan Pinnock (Brentford FC), Oniel Fisher (LA Galaxy), Damion Lowe (Al Ittihad), Richard King (Cavaliers SC), Alvas Powell (Philadelphia Union), Ravel Morrison (Derby County), Wesley Harding (Rotherham United), Daniel Johnson (Preston North End), Kemar Lawrence (Toronto FC), Devon Williams (Miami FC), Kevin Stewart (Blackpool FC), Bobby Reid (Fulham FC), Leon Bailey (Aston Villa), Junior Flemmings (Birmingham Legion), Jamal Lowe (Swansea City), Anthony Grant (Swindon Town), Cory Burke (Philadelphia Union), Tyreek Magee (Eupen), Kemar Roofe (Rangers FC), Peter-Lee Vassell (Indy Eleven), Michail Antonio (West Ham United), Lamar Walker (Miami FC), Shamar Nicholson (Charleroi), Javon East (Santos de Guapiles), Blair Turgott (Ostersund), Romario Williams (Qadsia SC), Norman Campbell (FK Cukaricki), Javain Brown (Vancouver Whitecaps), Ricardo Morris (Portmore United).

We would like to wish Anthony Grant the very best of luck and every success during his time away with Jamaica!
