Jonny Williams earns Wales Call-Up

Town Midfielder set for the International Stage

25 August 2021

Swindon Town midfielder Jonny Williams has been included in the Wales Squad for their upcoming World Cup Qualifiers.

Welsh Boss Rob Page has named a 27-man squad for the upcoming international period, and Williams will be linking up with his country for the first time since representing them at UEFA EURO 2020.

Wales will head to Finland for an international friendly on Wednesday 1 September, before taking on Belarus in the first of two World Cup Qualifiers in Kazan, Russia.

Williams and the rest of the Welsh team will then return to Cardiff for their second World Cup Qualifier against Estonia at Cardiff City Stadium, where there will be no limits on fan capacity.

Williams has won 28 caps for his country and has represented Wales at the highest level, including at two Euro tournaments, and he will be joining the likes of Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey in trying to help Wales to reach the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Jonny Williams will miss Town's EFL Sky Bet League Two trip to Stevenage on Saturday 4 September, and our Papa John's Trophy match against Arsenal U21's at The County Ground on Tuesday 7 September.
