Don Rogers becomes our Official Club Ambassador

27 July 2021

Swindon Town are delighted to announce that club legend Don Rogers is to become our first official club ambassador.

Rogers sits among the greatest players to ever appear for the club - scoring 190 times in 490 appearances over two spells spanning more than 14 years.

He made his debut for Town aged just 17 and went on to become a 60s icon, culminating in his famous brace at Wembley against Arsenal to secure the League Cup in March 1969.

He later became a cult hero at Crystal Palace before returning, via a short spell at QPR, to see out his playing days at SN1.

Rogers lives in the town to this day and is a familiar face around Swindon, running the sports shop that the club helped him purchase more than 50 years ago.

Don will represent the club across a wide variety of duties - he will sit on the newly appointed advisory board as well as represent the club within the community of Swindon and the wider region at events and as part of our planned community outreach.

We are beyond delighted to formalise Don's role at the club, and could not be prouder that his legacy, knowledge and status will help us in this period of engagement and rebuilding.
