Winchcombe looking forward to FA Youth Cup test

Midfielder looks ahead to Tuesday

Swindon Town U18's Midfielder Callum Winchcombe is looking forward to the honour and the prestige that comes with playing in the FA Youth Cup.

The Young Reds get their 2021-22 FA Youth Cup adventure underway on Tuesday night when they take on Winchester at Gloucester City.

And, speaking to swindontownfc.co.uk before the game, Winchcombe outlined just how important the FA Youth Cup is to the U18's.

"It is very important, especially after last year when we got to the Fourth Round and played Ipswich away," Winchcombe said.

"We want to try and hit those heights again.

"There are a lot of big players that have played in the FA Youth Cup, it is a great opportunity, it is different from the league and playing at bigger stadiums is a lot different and personally I think it is better than the league.

"To go on a Cup run would mean a lot because we want to play at bigger stadiums against better teams with better atmospheres.

"It doesn't matter who we play, we will stick to our tactics and we will do ourselves proud.

"We haven't heard much about Winchester but we can't take them lightly, they are good because they've got past the first three rounds to get here so we need to give it everything we've got.

"We can't take it easy and we need to play our game."
