Five on International Duty for Town

Reds to be widely represented on International Stage

6 October 2021

Swindon Town can confirm that five of our players have been called up for International Duty and are now away with their respective countries.

After what has been a pretty impressive start to the 2021-22 EFL Sky Bet League Two season, the Reds have seen five players earn international recognition this month.

Jonny Williams has been included in the Wales Squad for their 2022 World Cup Qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Estonia, with the midfielder currently in training with Cymru.

Anthony Grant has been called up by Jamaica again and he will join up with the Reggae Boyz after their World Cup Qualifier against the USA National team.

It has been a special week for Town goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott, who has been rewarded for his stellar start to the 2021-22 season by earning a first-ever call-up to the Ghana National Team.

The Black Stars are preparing to take on Zimbabwe in a 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier on Saturday, with Ghana currently sitting second in Group G and Wollacott will be hoping to experience his first taste of international action.

Also, and closer to home, Kaine Kesler-Hayden has once again been called up by England U20s for their upcoming fixtures against Italy and Czech Republic in October.

Finally, exciting attacker Alex Gilbert has been included in the Republic of Ireland U21s squad for their UEFA U21 European Championship Qualifiers against Luxembourg and Montenegro.

The five will miss this Saturday's televised fixture against Forest Green Rovers and our trip to Plymouth Argyle in the Papa John's Trophy on Tuesday night, and we'll keep fans up to date on when each player is expected to return to SN1.

Everyone at Swindon Town Football Club would like to wish Jojo, Jonny, Anthony, Kaine and Alex the very best of luck for their International adventures, and we can't wait to see them back at The County Ground soon.

Go and smash it boys!
