Swindon Town Head Coach Ben Garner has been nominated for the EFL Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month Award for August.
After taking over the helm following the takeover of the Football Club by Owner Clem Morfuni, Garner quickly got to work and, alongside Director of Football Ben Chorley, assembled a squad full of young and hungry players after arriving to only five registered players.
It has been a remarkable turnaround and Garner oversaw a stellar August, with the Reds opening the 2021-22 EFL Sky Bet League Two season with a superb 3-1 win away at Scunthorpe United despite having a very short preseason.
That was followed up by a very unlucky loss at home to Carlisle United, before a 0-0 draw with Tranmere Rovers was followed up by back-to-back wins and clean sheets to finish the month of August on a high.
Town collected an impressive haul of 10 points from five games in what was a busy August, while playing a really attractive and effective brand of passing football.
Garner's nomination is testament to the sheer amount of hard work that has been put in by everyone at the Football Club over the last number of weeks, from ownership to the back office staff to Ben Chorley to the coaching staff to the medical team to the performance analyst team and the kit men and so many more.
Everyone at Town has given absolutely everything, and the Manager of the Month nomination is worthy recognition for what has been an incredible team effort.
It has been a real concerted effort by every single person at the Football Club to get the team to where it is currently, and this is only the beginning of the journey.
All winners will be announced on Friday 10th September 2021, and the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel comprises former Barnsley and Town Manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports' EFL Expert Don Goodman, EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan, and Sky Bet EFL Trader Ivor Davies.
Good luck, Gaffer!
