BIG MATCH PREVIEW: Swindon Town V Arsenal U21s

All You Need To Know Ahead Of Tonight's Game

7 September 2021

Swindon Town take a break from league action tonight when they take on Arsenal U21s in the Papa John's Trophy at The County Ground.

The Reds begin their 2021-22 Papa John's Trophy campaign later today (7pm Kick-Off) against the Premier League giants, with Arsenal set to bring a talented and young team to SN1.

Town will hope to get the group stages off to a winning start by getting the better of the Gunners' Academy side, with Newport County and Plymouth Argyle also in the same group.

Here's all you need to know ahead of the game...

TICKET NEWS

Town fans can buy tickets for tonight's game up until kick-off, although you can purchase tickets online through to half-time.

Again, kick-off is at the earlier time of 7pm tonight.

TEAM NEWS

It remains to be seen what team Arsenal will put out tonight given the size of their Academy, but they boast a plethora of talented youngsters so they will pose a tough test no matter who is in the lineup.

For Town, they will look to give minutes to certain players who haven't played as much so far this season, while some Academy players could also be given the chance to shine.

A WORD FROM THE TOWN CAMP

Scott Lindsey, Town Assistant Coach: "It is brilliant and it is perfect for us because we can have a look at some of the players that haven't played a lot of minutes, so it is important they get some minutes as well and it is important that they play.

"We're really looking forward to the game.

"There are a lot of players we want to see and want to look at and it is great for them because they get valuable minutes in their legs.

"Arsenal have got a lot of numbers to pick from.

"They've got a big squad so we're not really sure on what they will do in terms of personnel, but I think they will play very similar to what they have done.

"We've watched a few of their games and we understand how they play and there is a pattern to how they play, but they've got a lot of players to choose from so we aren't sure what team they will play.

"It should be a good spectacle in terms of both teams wanting to play in the right manner.

"With our younger players playing as well, we feel it will be a good game to watch."
