Grant, Hunt available for Saturday as Garner gives team selection update

Reds have clean bill of health for Saturday

24 September 2021

Swindon Town Head Coach Ben Garner has given a team selection update ahead of the visit of Colchester United to SN1 on Saturday.

The Reds take on the U's at The County Ground tomorrow - 3pm kick-off - and there is good news on the team selection front with every player in the squad close to full fitness.

It gives Garner plenty of options and, speaking to the local media at his pre-Colchester Press Conference earlier today, the Gaffer provided updates on a handful of players who have been unavailable recently.

"Anthony Grant is back in, he's trained this week and we'll select a team and a squad going into tomorrow," Garner said.

"He's come back in and trained all week with no issues so he's back in the mix for us.

"Rob Hunt has been great this week and he's come in on top of the world and rightly so.

"Everyone here is delighted for him and his partner, Jayde, and he trained very well this week.

"Harry McKirdy, Jordan Lyden and Mathieu Baudry have all trained this week, but Harry only joined in at the backend of the week but everyone has trained.

"We've had a good week and there will certainly be some decisions for me to make going into tomorrow.

"There is no one unavailable for tomorrow but, in terms of an injury, it is probably just a case of judging fitness levels and picking the team and the bench that we think is right for tomorrow.

"We've got a clean bill of health and credit to the players who have had the injuries and have worked hard to get back, and credit also to the support staff, the medical staff and the sports science staff because a lot of work has gone in over the last few weeks to get these players back into a good place.

"We're getting stronger and more robust every week, we train hard and we work hard each week and the players have adapted to a different schedule and training load, but the ones who have done it regularly now are looking really strong and fit.

"The ones who are new into it are slowly and surely getting up to speed, so we're really pleased on that front."
