Williams earns Wales call-up for October fixtures

Town midfielder gets international recognition

29 September 2021

Swindon Town midfielder Jonny Williams has been called up by Wales for their upcoming 2022 World Cup Qualifiers in October.

Williams has been included in Robert Page's 28-man squad to face the Czech Republic and Estonia in two crucial games for the Welsh National Team.

Wales will be without Captain and star player Gareth Bale due to injury, but they have welcomed the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Connor Roberts and Neco Williams back into the squad.

Cymru currently sit in third place in Group E after their last round of international fixtures, games in which Williams impressed in.

Williams will now hope to play a starring role in helping Wales to try and move into first place in Group E as Wales head to Prague to take on the Czech Republic on Friday 8th October (19:45pm KO), before they take on Estonia in Tallinn on Monday 11th October (19:45pm KO).

Williams will miss Town's televised game away at Forest Green Rovers on Saturday 9th October, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports, and our trip to Plymouth Argyle in the Papa John's Trophy on Tuesday 12th October.

Here is the Wales squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Wayne Hennessey, Danny Ward, Adam Davies.

Defenders: Chris Gunter, Ben Davies, Ethan Ampadu, Chris Mepham, Joe Rodon, Neco Williams, Tom Lockyer, Connor Roberts, James Lawrence, Rhys Norrington-Davies.

Midfielders: Aaron Ramsey, Joe Allen, Matthew Smith, Joe Morrell, Dylan Levitt, Jonny Williams, Harry Wilson, David Brooks, Mark Harris, Rubin Colwill, Brennan Johnson.

Forwards: Tyler Roberts, Sorba Thomas, Daniel James, Kieffer Moore.
