New deal for Ellis

Long-serving ace handed two-year contract extension…

9 August 2022

Swindon Town's Ellis Iandolo has extended his stay at The County Ground by signing a new two-year deal.

The versatile 24-year-old is one of the club’s longest serving players, having joined back in July 2015 from Maidstone United, having begun his career at Gillingham.

He made his debut for the club in a 1-1 draw with Newport County in the Football League Trophy in September that year, replacing Kevin Stewart as a substitute.

He scored his first Town goal in Town colours in December 2016 in a 3-2 defeat to Luton Town in the same competition.

Since then, Iandolo has gone on to make a total of 113 league appearances for Swindon, scoring two goals.

Speaking to Town’s Media Team following his contract extension, Ellis said: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign this new deal. Swindon Town feels like home to me and it’s a club that means a lot.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what the future brings, and hopefully I can help drive this team towards promotion this season.”

First-Team Head Coach, Scott Lindsey, said: “Ellis is a key player for us and brings with him a lot of experience despite his young age.

“He’s been unfortunate with injuries recently but had a really good campaign last term and played a lot of games for us, and he will play his part this season once he’s back fully fit. He’s a great professional and shows good leadership qualities too, so I’m delighted he’s signed this new deal.”

Our Technical Director, Sandro Di Michele, said: “Ellis is an incredibly important player for us and is one of the best left-sided players in the league in my opinion.

“He offers a lot going forward and is always an attacking threat, but is also an accomplished defender as well.

“He’s been here a long time and we see him as an integral part of what we are trying to achieve here, so I’m delighted he’s extending his stay with us.”
