Louie Barry goes in-depth with 'town'

Read a snippet of forward's interview

25 February 2022

Talented forward Louie Barry is this week's feature interview in the latest edition of 'town' - Swindon Town's 2021-22 Official Matchday Programme.

It has been a productive week for Barry who has scored three goals in two games, and he sat down with 'town' to discuss his start to life at SN1.

Town fans can now read a snippet of that exclusive interview right here..

Louie, firstly, you arrived in January, and we know how big a move this was for you in terms of your personal development, so how have you found your first few weeks at Swindon?

"From the very start I felt welcome by all the players, the staff, and the fans, and from that point on it was just trying to get the match fitness up and get used to the experiences of playing League Two football and get a feel for it. The Gaffer put his faith in me to start against Scunthorpe and I wanted to repay him, so I've just tried to work my hardest and I'm trying to give my all, trying to make things happen and it is coming good. The team has scored 11 goals and not conceded any, and I'm obviously happy to have scored my first goal against Carlisle and the confidence is high in the team, so now we can kick on."

The Gaffer said after Tuesday night that you have grown in confidence day after day, so is it fair to ask that you are feeling at the peak of your powers right now?

"I'm very much a confidence player. If I was playing a game and I scored early, it would really give me confidence and because I hadn't really played much this season, I felt my confidence not as good as it was but, this team has given me a lot of confidence, even in training, and they are backing me all the way. It has given me a lot of confidence and every game and every training session is helping me to get my confidence levels to a 100 percent."

You are an uber-talented creative player, and the way the team plays allows you to be your best self, doesn't it?

"The centre-midfielders always try to look for the forward pass, Ellis Iandolo and Joe Tomlinson then make third-man runs, and it helps me a lot because I can get then isolated in one-v-ones and that is one of my biggest assets. I feel like the team really compliments me well and everyone plays for each other, we work hard for each other and we're doing really well right now. The only way is up."
