Swindon Town Football Club are delighted to announce that we will be partnering with Her Game Too #HGT to signal our support towards equality and the fight against sexism in football.

The club is fully behind HGT’s mission to make sure that women and girls of all ages feel confident and safe sharing their opinion about football, both online and in real life, without fear of sexist abuse.

We are proud to have joined a number of other EFL clubs in partnership with #HGT, highlighting that football is a game for all, and making sure that women in football do not experience sexism online, on matchdays, or indeed any other days.

Town can also announce that our game against Forest Green Rovers on the 26th March will be dedicated to this partnership, with the club showing its support through a feature in the Official Matchday Magazine, along with other dedications on the matchday.

Lucy Ford - Co-Founder of #HGT spoke to swindontownfc.co.uk, providing Town fans with a background on the organisation:

“Her Game Too is a movement set up by 12 female football fans with the aim to raise awareness of the sexist abuse in football. Our aim is to tackle the misogynistic culture surrounding football so we can create a better and more inclusive atmosphere for female fans for now and the next generation.

We feel it is important to have the support and backing of football clubs throughout the country, across all levels so we are delighted to be partnering with Swindon Town and we look forward to working together.

We are also very pleased that this is a one club partnership that encompasses not just the men's team, but the women's team, the Supporters Club, the Community Foundation and TrustSTFC to highlight that football is a game for all.”

Furthermore, key figures behind the scenes here at SN1 have spoken exclusively to swindontownfc.co.uk, highlighting the importance of the partnership to the club.

Swindon Town CEO, Rob Angus, said: “The #HGT movement is very important for Swindon Town as it illustrates one of the key things we are looking to do, which is to ensure that we are at the heart of our community and be inclusive and accessible in our community for all. We want to ensure that all supporters are welcome.

Swindon Town joining the #HGT movement illustrates this and we will work with #HGT and our female supporters to ensure that they feel welcome and a big part of STFC. We are creating an environment here at the County Ground where everyone can feel respected and welcome.”

Head of Swindon Town FC Community Foundation, Jon Holloway, said: “Swindon Town FC Community Foundation is proud to be supporting the #HerGameToo initiative. Girls and Women’s football have been an integral part of the Community Foundation’s programmes for many years, and we look forward to this new partnership further enhancing and showcasing that football is a game for everyone to enjoy. #OneClubOneCommunity”.

Swindon Town WFC Vice-Chairman, Mike Dixon, said: “As a Women's club, we are delighted to be part of the Swindon Town FC partnership with #HerGameToo as we work toward being a club where all are welcome. Football has a great way of uniting people, and we hope that this partnership helps develop a culture where female footballers and supporters know they are a valued part of the football community.”

TrustSTFC Officer, Laura Morgan, said: “Unfortunately, sexism in football has been left bubbling away in the background for some years. Football should be inclusive, a game for everyone from playing to supporting. The Trust are delighted to stand with the various areas of the STFC community in support of the #HGT campaign.”

We look forward to continually working with #HGT to ensure that Swindon Town, and the larger footballing community, are aware of and join in with the fight for equality and an end to sexism in sport.
