TEAM NEWS: Williams, Conroy out for Scunthorpe

Injury Update Ahead Of Saturday

11 February 2022

Swindon Town will be without both Jonny Williams and Dion Conroy for the visit of Scunthorpe United to The County Ground on Saturday.

The Reds are back in EFL Sky Bet League Two action at SN1 tomorrow - 3pm Kick-Off - and they will be without two key players with Head Coach Ben Garner giving an injury update at his pre-match press conference earlier today.

"Jonny Williams has got a little bit of damage to his groin from the scan, which isn't going to be long-term," Garner said.

"It will probably be a week or so, so it rules him out of tomorrow.

"Dion Conroy is still ruled out for tomorrow.

"That's it and Louis Reed comes back into the squad tomorrow which is great, and everyone else is good."

And Garner also provided the latest update on Jack Payne, who is well on the road to recovery from a knee injury but will be assessed today.

"Jack Payne joined in some training on Thursday and didn't do the full session but he joined back in which is good, and we're hoping he can do a little bit more today," Garner added.

"We'll assess where he is after training.

"We'll see how he goes today but he's not in a position to start the game tomorrow. Whether he can come into the squad and be on the bench will very much depend on how he does today.

"Every individual is different but any team in League Two would miss Jack Payne - he's a quality player, a top professional, a fantastic work ethic and he's a real leader within our dressing room as well.

"He's obviously been a miss because of his quality as a player and as a person, so the sooner we can get him back involved the better."
