Defender is tomorrow's cover star

21 January 2022

Defender Rob Hunt is the cover star on tomorrow's edition of 'town,' Swindon Town's 2021-22 Official Matchday Programme.

Ben Garner's team take on Bristol Rovers at The County Ground tomorrow (1pm Kick-Off), and our Matchday Magazine is now available to purchase in-store and online right HERE.

In the meantime, read a snippet of Rob Hunt's exclusive interview with 'town,' where the defender discusses the season so far and his recent run in the team..

Rob, firstly, you were part of the six that stayed loyal to the club in the summer and, given where we were then compared to now, it has been a remarkable turnaround hasn't it?

"The way the Owner has run the club since taking over and the personnel he's brought in from the Manager to the staff and their recruitment of players, I think that is a massive start and the group of lads we've got, the togetherness and the team morale gets you to those positions when you're on the pitch and you want to dig in for your mates. No one probably ever thought we'd get to the Third Round of the Emirates FA Cup and where we are in the league if you would have asked them back in the summer."

Not only are we doing well but we're playing a unique brand of attractive football, so how are you enjoying the style of play under the Gaffer?

"As a player you always want to pass the ball, have more possession of the ball, and manipulate it instead of just kicking it long and fighting for second balls, and it is good for the fans that they can watch an attractive brand of football instead of watching a team just lumping it long and hoping for second balls. The Gaffer has got a great way of playing, all the lads have bought into it and as you can see on Tuesday and Saturday last week, we dominate possession and play really well."

There's a real team togetherness this season isn't there, on and off the pitch, so is it one of the closest dressing rooms you've been involved with?

"I'd say so, it is up there. Everyone is on the same page, everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet, we have good banter, and everyone is having a laugh every day, but we take the work seriously as well, so it is a good mix of having a laugh but working hard when the time is right, working hard for your mate on the pitch but also enjoying it because if you don't enjoy football, you aren't going to play well. You can see that everyone is really enjoying it this season.

Tickets will not be available on the day on Saturday, but you can purchase online now by clicking HERE.
