Swindon Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of exciting forward player Louie Barry from Premier League outfit Aston Villa.

Barry arrives at SN1 from Villa Park until the end of the 2021-22 EFL Sky Bet League Two season, and his signing is a huge statement of intent by the Football Club.

Boasting impressive pedigree and a stellar resume already, the talented and skilful forward will bring a different dynamic to Town’s front-line.

With a string of impressive performances at a young age, the tricky forward caught the eye of football superpower Barcelona, becoming the first English player to join La Masia after signing a three-year contract in July 2019.

He made an instant impression after scoring on his debut for Barca’s U19 side in a 6-0 victory against Ebro, and he scored twice in 10 outings in both the league and the UEFA Youth League during the 2019-20 season.

Born an Aston Villa fan, fate intervened and Barry returned home to England in January 2020, signing for his boyhood club.

It wasn’t long before he was handed a richly-deserved first-team debut and, again, he wasted little time in making an impact after scoring the equaliser in Villa’s FA Cup Third Round Tie against Liverpool, a strike that was voted ‘Goal of the Round’ by BBC Sport readers and one that elevated Barry into the spotlight. This coming in the same year he helped the U18 squad win the FA Youth Cup alongside former Town loanee, Kaine Kesler-Hayden.

Barry continued his development by signing for EFL Sky Bet League One outfit Ipswich Town in August 2021, while he has already represented England at U15, U16, U17 and U18 levels, scoring an incredible 21 goals in just 20 games for England’s youth teams.

Town’s Director of Football, Ben Chorley, said: “Louie comes to us with undoubted ability.

“He has been on the biggest of stages for such a young man. Over the last three weeks we’ve watched every minute of his games live and been in constant dialogue with his club.

“The people at Aston Villa we have a fantastic relationship with and we thank them for believing in our methods to progress Louie further.

“We wish him all the best in our second-half of the campaign.”

Town would like to wish Louie the very best of luck during his time here at The County Ground.
