Scholars sign full-time deals with Town…

14 July 2022

Swindon Town is delighted to announce the signings of ten new scholars, all of which have penned full-time deals with our Academy.

The talented group enjoyed an excellent end to their Under-16 season last term, with several impressive displays against the likes of Southampton and Fulham.

The promising youngsters will now look forward to making their mark for our Under-18s squad under the watchful eye of our experienced coaches, who will oversee their development in our youth setup moving forward.

The players will also be given the opportunity to train alongside our first-team squad during the 2022/23 season.

Senior Academy Director, Jamie Russell, said: "Firstly I would like to say congratulations to all the players and their families.

“Gaining a scholarship at a professional football club is an excellent achievement, and this group of players are really exciting. They have all the qualities we like to see in young men.

“To attract so many category one Academy players to the club is a huge positive and a real sign of intent by the football club - there really is a pathway at Swindon Town for young players to achieve their dreams of becoming professional players.

“Everyone within the Academy is aware of where this group is heading with regards to their continued development and the transition from a schoolboy into a full-time football programme is a big step, but this is where our multi-disciplinary approach will aid and support this as part of their journey.”

Town’s Under-16s Lead Coach, Sean Wood, said: “These players are all really exciting prospects and their scholarships are thoroughly deserved.

“It’s brilliant to see some of the group come  through our academy from the foundation phase and I’m excited to see how much further they will develop both as footballers and people over the next two years.”
