Scott Lindsey: “I’m ready for the challenge”

21 June 2022

New Swindon Town Head Coach Scott Lindsey says he’s more than ready to lead the football club as he embarks on his first senior management role.

Lindsey, who was Ben Garner’s assistant last term before the latter departed for Charlton Athletic earlier this month, was officially unveiled yesterday as the new man in charge at the County Ground.

Speaking to the media, Lindsey said his previous experience in the game will stand him in good stead with the new season fast approaching.

“I’ve been an assistant and coach at both youth and senior level and pretty much done everything a manager would do in the role, from media work and building relationships with players to tactical work on the training ground and organising teams, so I feel more than equipped to make the step up as First Team Head Coach,” he said.

Lindsey also believes his two spells at Town in various capacities means he understands the clubs philosophy, which will be vital as he bids to bring success to SN1 next season.

“I get the ethos of this fantastic club and how we want to play,” he commented.

“Having established ourselves last season we have the foundations to build something great here, and we’re working hard to bring new players in and are in contract talks with several key personnel at present.

“I’ve got a good knowledge of players at this level and how other teams play in the division, so I’m really excited to get stuck in and prepare my side to play attractive, aggressive football that will get us results on the pitch.”

Town will find out their forthcoming EFL Sky Bet League Two fixtures on the Thursday (23 June) when the FA announce the schedule for the new 2022/23 season.
