EXTENDED ACTION: Swindon 2-1 Sutton United

Lengthy highlights from Tuesday night's win

17 March 2022

Swindon Town came out as the victors after taking on Sutton United in the EFL Sky Bet League Two, in what was an action packed ninety-minutes at SN1

The Robins were able to open the scoring in the fourteenth minute through Josh Davison. Town's no. 1, Jojo Wollacott, showed great vision to ping a long-ball across the pitch to put Josh Davison through on goal. The young striker, however, had to think quickly on his feet and dinked the ball over Stuart Nelson before thuming the ball home to open the scoring.

Town's lead was not destined to last though, as  in the twenty-eighth minute, Joseph Kizzi managed to get on the end of a deep Enzio Boldewijn free-kick cross - nodding the ball home from the back post, ensuring that it was honours even going into half-time.

It was Swindon Town's top goalscorer this season, Harry McKirdy, who scored the winner for the home side. Jonny Williams skipped into Sutton United's eighteen-yard-box, fizzing a ball across to Town's no. 11, who smashed the ball home.

The game was not without it's controversy, however, as Louis Reed picked up a second yellow card in injury time for alleged simulation.
