Garner - We need to be flexible

Gaffer on Crawley test

18 March 2022

Swindon Town Head Coach Ben Garner has told his team to expect the unexpected from Crawley Town on Saturday.

The Reds head to The People's Pension Stadium tomorrow - 3pm Kick-Off - looking for a third straight win in the EFL Sky Bet League Two.

But, with Crawley unpredictable in the way that they set-up and play, Garner knows his side must be flexible on the day.

"A difficult team, some good players in there and they are very unpredictable in what they do in terms of formation and shape," Garner said at his pre-match press conference earlier today.

"We have prepared as best as we can but we need to be flexible tomorrow in terms of what we're facing.

"They are always very committed and they have players in there who are capable of scoring out of nothing, creating something out of nothing, so our defensive concentration tomorrow and organization will need to be very, very good.

"For us, it is about winning the game.

"We need to go there and attack and try and impose ourselves.

"The only thing on our minds is trying to get those three points.

"John Yems (Crawley Manager) is a big personality and he's got bags and bags of character. I don't know him well, I've only met him on maybe three or four occasions, but he's a big character, a big personality and you can see why he motivates people and why he gets people playing for him.

"We know it is going to be a challenge, it is going to be a fight, it is going to be a battle because his teams always give everything and he won't accept anything less.

"Like I said, they are very unpredictable in how they play and the qualities they have within their squad.

"We look at how we can win the game and that will be the aim tomorrow."
