Swindon Town Women’s second round FA Cup clash with Plymouth Argyle this coming Sunday (27 November) will take place at the County Ground.
Having eased their way past Paulton Rovers in the third qualifying round last month in their SN1 debut, James Lally’s side went on to overcome Frampton Rangers in the last round two weeks ago to record their furthest ever run in the competition.
Our girls now come up against a Plymouth side who play their football in the National League Southern Premier Division – one level above Town - and beat Cheltenham Ladies 4-2 in the last round to progress.
Both teams will know a victory could setup a mouth-watering tie against a championship club, with sides at that level entering at the third round stage.
This weekend’s showdown at the County Ground will be another big occasion for Lally’s side, who attracted a record crowd of 720 fans when they thrashed Paulton 10-0 back on Saturday 22 October.
Town boss, James Lally, said: “This is a great opportunity for us to pit ourselves against a team from the league above in this competition.
“We have had great momentum in the league and cup so far this season which will give us confidence heading into this game.
“Playing at the County Ground once more will also be a great platform for us to continue driving women’s football forward here at the club.”
The game against Argyle will kick off at 1pm on Sunday, and we’re encouraging as many fans as possible to come along and cheer on the team.
Tickets for the game are £3 for adults, £1 for OAPs and free for under-18s. They can be purchased via our website or collected from the club shop.
A small number will also be available on the day via the Legends Bar.
