Anton Dworzak signs pro deal with Town

Talented young Academy graduate pens two year contract at SN1…

14 April 2023

Swindon Town academy ace Anton Dworzak has signed his first professional contract with the club, which will keep him at the County Ground until the summer of 2025.

The youngster, who turned 18 last month, has been with the club since the aged of 9 where he started out as a centre-forward, impressing and scoring in an under-10’s trial match back in 2014, prompting Town to snap him up.

During his time as a Robin, he’s been away with the first-team on several pre-season tours, including three in the Netherlands in 2016, 2017 and 2018 alongside fellow Swindon prospects George Cowmeadow and Harrison Minturn.

Throughout his continuing development, Anton’s versatility has not gone unnoticed, slotting into midfield on occasions and even defence when called upon.

He was offered a scholarship with Town at the end of the 2019/20 campaign, becoming joint captain of our youth team in both of his two years at that level.

Then, aged just 16 years and 272 days, he made his first-team debut for Swindon in November 2021 as he replaced Harrison Minturn in the 89th minute as the Robins took on Colchester United in the second round of the EFL Trophy.

In November last year, Dworzak joined fellow academy team mate Harvey Fox at Southern League Division One Central side, Highworth Town, on a short term loan deal.

Both players made their debuts in a 2-0 victory at Biggleswade, with Anton marking the occasion by scoring the second goal.

All this before he’d be handed his full league debut by former Town boss Scott Lindsey a month later, as he came on as second half substitute in our 1-0 win away at Barrow, replacing Jacob Wakeling.

Town Youth Development Phase Lead Coach, Sean Wood, said: “I’m delighted to see Anton receive a professional contract and it’s thoroughly deserved.

“He’s a very hard working and creative individual who I’m sure will thrive in the professional environment.

This season saw him go out on loan to Highworth and he shone – a move that has played a huge part in his continuing development as both a player and a person, so I’d like to pay tribute to them for giving him the opportunity to play men’s football.

I look forward to monitoring his development over the next couple of years and hopefully we will see another homegrown player break through into our first-team with Anton’s story inspiring them to greatness.”

Upon signing his pro deal, Anton spoke to Town’s Media Team.

“I’m over the moon and super excited get started. I’ve obviously been at the club since a young age, but this is what you work towards and I just want to make my family and the club proud now.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to get some first-team minutes this season which has been fantastic and will certainly spur me on.

“I’ve had a taste and loved every second, so I want to keep improving and get more opportunities like that moving forward, showing everyone what I’m capable of.”
