Swindon Town Football Club can today confirm it has parted company with Women’s First-Team Head Coach, James Lally.
After joining the club back in 2019, James has been instrumental in building a competitive side as well as ensuring continued stability and leadership during his tenure.
He’s also played a key role in developing young players across our age groups, introducing many into the first-team environment.
He’s overseen the integration of our women’s team into the football club, which will see them become an important and sustainable part of the Robins footballing family.
He’s also led our girls out at the County Ground on three separate occasions this season, including their comprehensive 10-1 victory over Paulton Rovers back in October last year as The Robins progressed from the third qualifying round of the FA Cup, registering a record-breaking crowd for a match at that stage of the famous competition.
Assistant Head Coach, Keehlan Panayiotou, has also left the club with immediate effect.
Town Chief Executive, Rob Angus, said: “We have taken the tough decision to part company with James today as we look to take the Women’s team in a different direction.
“His contribution since joining us has been great, but we now feel the time is right to make a change as we seek to continue growing both on and off the pitch.
“I’d like to thank James for his efforts and professionalism since joining the club back in 2019, and wish him all the very best in the future.
“The same goes for Keehlan, who has been exceptional over the last five years, giving his all in supporting James and our girls, regularly going above and beyond.
“Work is well underway to appoint a replacement First-Team Head Coach, with an announcement in due course.”
