Lewis Ward rejoins Town

Goalkeeper heads back to SN1

Swindon Town are delighted to announce that Lewis Ward has joined the club and will become the new Youth Development Phase Lead Coach.

The 26-year-old started his career at Reading and would have numerous loan spells at clubs such as Hungerford Town, Margate, Aldershot Town, Northampton and Forest Green Rovers before a permenant transfer to Exeter City and then would later join Town in 2021.

Standing 6ft 4inches tall, Ward rejoins Town after leaving the club in the summer last year, when he joined fellow League Two side Sutton United and went on to make nine appearences for The U's. 

Ward, who has been training with the club since his departure from Sutton United, links back up with Goalkeeping Coach, Steve Mildenhall and will join Town goalkeepers Murphy Mahoney and Conor Brann in providing competetion in that department. 

The goalkeeper will link up with Swindon Town's Academy, where he will work closely with Academy Manager, Alex Pike and Lead Professional Development Phase Coach, Sean Wood. 

As well as linking up with the Swindon Town first-team and Michael Flynn, Ward will become an intergral part of the coaching and development programme for Under-14 to Under-16 players. 

Lewis Ward becomes Town's ninth signing of the season, joining Murphy Mahoney, Dan Kemp, Liam Kinsella, Jake Young, Udoka Godwin-Malife, Tariq Uwakwe, Benn Ward and Brooklyn Genesini.
