Swindon's U18s made it a successful weekend, with a 4-0 friendly weekend over SGS College at Beversbrook on Saturday morning.

A solid first half saw goals from Abu Kanu and Josh Keyes take the team into the second half with a two-goal advantage.

Whilst trialist Matthew Nwanekezie showed boss Sean Woods exactly why he deserved game time, with a brace of goals to finish off an impressive performance from the young Town side.

Here’s what lead professional development phase coach Sean Woods had to say about the game:

"Positive morning for our young players, in control of the game from start to finish.

"We got the outcomes we wanted as a group from the fixture, after last week's missed chances, it was positive for the boys to score 4 goals and keep a clean sheet.

"It was pleasing to see lots of players back in the squad from injury and first-team involvement.

"Also to have some of our U16s exposed to the U18 matchday environment."

After an unfortunate start to the season for Town, Woods cannot wait to get back into league action as they are set to face Newport this Saturday.

He said: "We are excited about this week and returning to league action next weekend at home vs Newport County."
